Embark on a 4-day Berber Villages Trek through the stunning landscapes of the High Atlas. Starting from Marrakech, you’ll pass dramatic gorges, cross scenic mountain passes, and discover remote villages where life follows the rhythm of nature. Nights are spent in warm family guesthouses, offering an authentic glimpse into Berber culture. This trek combines mountain adventure with cultural immersion, making it ideal for those who want more than just hiking.

Day 1

Marrakech → Imi Oughlad → Tahliouin → Tizian
Pick-up from your accommodation, airport, or hotel in Marrakech, then drive through Tahnaout and the Moulay Brahim gorges, a site made famous by the Hollywood movie Mission Impossible. On arrival in Imlil, meet your local guide and muleteers over a welcome cup of mint tea. Begin the trek through Ait Lachien village, ascending gradually to Tizi n’Tacht pass, where your cook will prepare lunch. After a short rest, continue on a 2-hour walk via the red-earth village of Tahliouin, crossing the Azzaden River before reaching Tizian village. Overnight in a Berber guesthouse. Walking: 5–6 hours

Day 2

Tahliouin → Tizi n’Tkhrkhort → Tizgui n’Tkent

After breakfast, start with a steady climb towards Tizi n’Tkhrkhort pass, passing by small goat shelters known as azibs. Enjoy the peaceful forest paths and panoramic mountain views before arriving at Amlan, a green meadow where lunch is served. Continue trekking to the remote Tizgui n’Tkent village, where you will spend the night with a Berber family.

Day 3

Tizgui n’Tkent → Tizi n’Tagdalt → Tizi Oussem

Today’s trek begins with an ascent to Tizi n’Tagdalt pass, passing through Azib Angs Nousoul, a summer village used by shepherds. Pause to enjoy nuts and take in the views of the dramatic Azzaden Valley, often called the “Red Valley” for its rich earth tones. Descend to Arro, a shaded spot for lunch, before continuing to Tizi Oussem, a charming Berber village where you’ll spend the night in a guesthouse. Walking: 6–7 hours

Day 4

Tizi Oussem → Tizi Mzik (2,489m) → Imlil → Marrakech
After breakfast, climb steadily out of the Azzaden Valley through juniper forests to the panoramic Tizi Mzik pass (2,489m). From here, descend back into Imlil, completing your trek. After lunch, transfer back to Marrakech or choose to spend the night in Imlil. Walking: 5–6 hours
